October saw the arrival of the remarkable Ashley, the newly appointed Activities Coordinator at Oldway Heights. With boundless enthusiasm and creativity, Ashley wasted no time in curating a series of unforgettable experiences for the clients. The Halloween festivities kick-started the events calendar with a burst of excitement, featuring captivating themed games and competitions. From the thrilling witch hat ring toss to the spooktacular fancy dress competition, residents revealed in the spirits of Halloween. Face painting, themed bingo, and the decorate the mummy activity left everyone with great memories.
As November emerged, Oldway Heights set the sky ablaze with its annual firework display. Residents gathered to marvel at the dazzling spectacle while drinking hot chocolate with marshmallows and writing names with sparklers. The care home also had the pleasure of hosting Animal Encounters, a captivating experience that brought a menagerie of animals including snakes, armadillos, lizards, hedgehogs, and more. Residents embraced the opportunity to interact, learn, and appreciate these incredible creatures during this educational encounter.
MUSIC & SENSORY DAY
Adding to the musical charm and ambiance of Oldway Heights, a talented saxophonist made a special appearance, captivating residents with soulful melodies. The saxophonist has quickly become a regular favourite, enchanting everyone with their skilful performances and enhancing the overall atmosphere of joy and relaxation within the care home.
The excitement didn’t end there, as Oldway Heights orchestrated a sensory day that engaged residents’ senses in a wide array of ways. The carefully curated experience included various objects to touch and discover, as well as delightful scents to evoke memories and stimulate the senses. This immersive sensory day brought a unique and meaningful sensory journey to all participants, fostering connections and deepening the overall engagement.
FESTIVE SEASON
In the spirit of the approaching festive season, Oldway Heights brought the joy of Christmas into every heart by embarking on a delightful cookie-making adventure. Residents and staff gathered together towards the end of November to bake and decorate scrumptious Christmas cookies, filling the care home with the heartwarming aromas of the holiday season. The activity not only provided culinary delights but also created a sense of togetherness and anticipation for the upcoming celebrations.
As preparations for Christmas unfolded, the residents eagerly joined in decorating the home, creating a festive ambiance that will set the stage for an entire month of non-stop activities.
