March at Oldway Heights Care Home was full of wonderful moments and engaging activities that brought everyone closer together. Take a look at some of this month’s highlights!
Alpacas Visited
The residents enjoyed a delightful visit from some friendly alpacas. The soft, gentle animals provided lots of smiles and laughter, as everyone had the chance to pet them and learn more about these wonderful creatures. It was a calming and enjoyable experience for all.
Pancake Day – Pancake Eating Competition and Flipping Competition
Pancake Day brought plenty of fun and friendly competition! Staff took part a pancake-eating challenge and the residents participated in a pancake-flipping contest where Danny and James won with amazing scores! There were lots of laughs, with everyone cheering on the participants and enjoying the delicious pancakes afterward.
Art Club
The Art Club provided an opportunity for residents to unleash their creativity. Using different mediums, participants created beautiful works of art, which they proudly displayed around the care home. It’s always a relaxing and rewarding session for those involved.
The Price Is Right
A fun-filled afternoon was had by all with our very own version of The Price Is Right! Residents took part in guessing prices for various items, sparking excitement and plenty of good-natured competition. It was a great way to get everyone involved and bring some laughter to the day.
Luc The Harpist
Luc, the talented harpist, serenaded residents with soothing melodies that created a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The sound of the harp was calming and enjoyed by all, providing a lovely break in the day.
Trips to Paignton Pier
Residents had a wonderful time on a trip to Paignton Pier. Whether it was taking in the views, enjoying the fresh air, or having a stroll along the pier, it was a perfect outing that brought joy to everyone. We often would stop for a cup of coffee or a cheeky hot donut!
Afternoon Exercise Classes With Jordan
Jordan led a fun and engaging afternoon exercise session, helping residents stay active and energized. The class was tailored to everyone’s ability, ensuring all could join in and enjoy some gentle movement while having fun.
Book Club – The Little Café at the End of the Pier
In our Book Club, residents started reading The Little Café at the End of the Pier. It’s a heartwarming romantic novel that sparked lovely discussions, and everyone is looking forward to the next chapters as they share their thoughts on the story.
Wheel Trivia Game
The Wheel Trivia Game was an exciting challenge for residents, testing their knowledge on a variety of topics. Everyone took turns spinning the wheel and answering questions, with lots of laughter and friendly competition throughout the game.
Karaoke
The Karaoke session brought out the inner performer in everyone! Residents enjoyed singing along to their favourite songs, with many showing off their vocal talents. It was a lively and fun-filled afternoon that had everyone joining in.
Year of Invention Game
The Year of Invention Game took residents on a journey through history, as they guessed the years of famous inventions. It was both educational and fun, and sparked interesting conversations about how these inventions shaped the world.
King of Swing Show
The King of Swing Show was a hit with staff and residents, who enjoyed a wonderful performance full of lively music and classic swing tunes. The upbeat rhythms and vibrant atmosphere had everyone tapping their feet and smiling throughout the show.
Board Games
Board games like Ludo, Chess, and Draughts provided a fantastic opportunity for residents to engage in some friendly competition. Whether they were strategizing over a chessboard or enjoying a classic game of Ludo, everyone had a great time.
Shopping Trip
The shopping trip was a fun and practical outing for residents. Everyone had the chance to pick out a few items and enjoy a leisurely stroll around the shops. It was a lovely way to get out and about and socialize.
Red Nose Day – Quiz and Red Nose Trivia Game
Red Nose Day brought lots of laughter and joy with a fun quiz and trivia questions. We always love a quiz as we get to learn so much!
Bert the Guitarist
Bert the Guitarist brought some great live music to the home, playing classic songs that everyone loved. Residents enjoyed listening to his beautiful guitar playing, singing along to the tunes, and reminiscing about their favourite songs.
Animal HQ – Cuddly Animals
Animal HQ brought an assortment of cuddly animals for residents to interact with. Whether it was petting rabbits, guinea pigs, or other gentle creatures, the residents loved the chance to get up close and experience the joy of cuddling with the animals.
Animal Facts Quiz
The Animal Facts Quiz was a fun and educational activity, where residents tested their knowledge of the animal kingdom. Everyone enjoyed sharing what they knew and learning new facts about various animals, making it a delightful session.
